Position: Civil/Coastal Engineering Technologist

General

Sea Force Consultants Inc. is seeking a qualified individual to work in the environmental and engineering consulting fields.


Opportunity

Opportunity exists to gain experience working with practicing professionals in coastal engineering and biology, with a focus on fieldwork, creating professional drawings and report preparation. A variety of other tasks may be required on an as-needed basis, such as field surveying along coastal BC, travel to meetings, site visits and inspections. Projects may involve extended hours and travel. The type of work varies with client demands.


Primary Tasks

      • Perform field inspection and surveying services such as hydrographic/topographic mapping, instrumentation monitoring and structural inspection of marine/upland structures.
      • Work with Engineering staff to perform structural calculations, cost estimates and data analysis.
      • Create professional looking drawings in AutoCAD format.
      • Organize and maintain a report and drawing directory including photographs, design revisions and client deliverables.
      • Write and assemble clear concise technical reports including processed field inspection and survey data, photographs and drawings.
      • Manage and prioritize multiple projects.


Secondary Tasks

      • Provide support to other groups within the company including environmental services, construction and other areas as required.
      • Manage project budgets and schedules as required.
      • Attend public meetings and/or liaison with owners during meetings.


Required Skills

      • Positive, team-oriented attitude.
      • Adaptable to multiple projects and work situations.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • A technologist diploma, in civil/mechanical or other relevant discipline.
      • Experience in AutoCAD 2004 or later and the ability to learn new software quickly. Drafting and/or writing experience to be evaluated during the interview.
      • Highly motivated, organized and able to perform with limited direction.
      • Efficient data compilation, processing and maintenance skills.


Additional Skills Desired:

      • Webpage editing/design skills.
      • Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS products.
      • Database design and maintenance skills.
